- As a follow-up to an Asia Express dated December 21, 2007, Korean telecom operator SK Telecom recently announced the inauguration of its development center located in the Beijing Tsinghua Science Park, Chinese Sohu News reported. In addition, the company also aims to enhance its TD-SCDMA trial network with TD-HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) functionality, enabling a downlink speed of 2.8Mbps, which is seven times faster than standard TD-SCDMA transmissions.

- Meanwhile, China's TD-SCDMA-based 4G standard, to be jointly trial-tested by Datang Telecom and SK Telecom, is slated for commercialization in 2010, according to the same source. By means of variegated technologies, Datang Telecom expects to eventually reach an uplink speed of 50Mbps and wireless Internet connection speed of 100Mbps on its TD-SCDMA network.
